Mildred Christopher

Mildred M. Christopher, 78 of Edinburg, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. She was born on July 21, 1948, in Taylorville, the daughter of Clarence L. and Treva H. (Parish) Christopher. Mildred attended cosmetology school and worked many years as a beautician, owning her own beauty shop. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook and gardener. She enjoyed canning produce from her garden. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

She is survived by her grandson: Luke Ostermeier (Alexis Brown) of Edinburg; great grandson: Koewyn Ostermeier; siblings: Willie Murphy (late Doug) of Weston, Ohio, Treva Fiaoni (John) and Donald Christopher both of Taylorville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons: Troy Allen Ostermeier, Charles Shayne Ostermeier, and Kristen Lance Ostermeier; granddaughter: Jade Marie Ostermeier; great granddaughter: Alexis Ostermeier; siblings: Barbara I. Colclasure, Barry L. Christopher, James H. Christopher, Clarence L. Christopher Jr., Alan L. Christopher; and former husband: Kenneth Ostermeier.

Mildred will be cremated and no services are planned at this time. Inurnment will take place at Grove City Cemetery at a later date. McClue Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements.
