Mercia Joy Fredrick Obituary (1940

Mercia Joy Fredrick, 83, of Bloomington, IL, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023 at her home. Born April 7, 1940 in Rockford, IL to Birger and Bernadine (Lindeman) Anderson, she married David Fredrick on September 7, 1963 and was married for 59 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, her sister, Christy Olson and brother-in-law, Gale Olson. Mercia graduated from Rockford East High School, Rockford, IL and Augsburg College, Minneapolis, MN. She was a homemaker, taught home economics and family and consumer science for 12 years, and owned the Interiors by the Cottage in Bloomington, IL for 10 years. She was a member of Eastview Christian Church in Normal, IL, and enjoyed spending time with family, playing the marimba, and reading her Bible. With her gift of hospitality, she welcomed anyone who came to her home. Mercia was a woman of faith who loved the Lord with all her heart, soul, and strength. Survived by her children Matthew Fredrick and Aaron (Becky) Fredrick; grandchildren, Rachel (Jordan), Christina, Hannah, Abigail, Joshua, and great-grandchildren, MaciAnn, Maxine, and Myles. Burial will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Arlington Memorial Park in Rockford, IL. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Eastview Christian Church, 1500 Airport Road, Normal, IL.
