Matthew "Birddog" Burrus Obituary (1978

Matthew "Birddog" Burrus, 45, of Pana passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield. He was born March 30, 1978 in Taylorville, IL to Gregory & Lila "Lou" (Clutter) Burrus. Matthew was a graduate of Pana High School. He was a hard worker, mostly working in carpentry & roofing. Matthew enjoyed motorcycles and helping others. He never knew a stranger and his greatest love was his kids and his dogs. Matthew is survived by his mother, Lou Burrus, Pana, IL; children: Wade Burrus, Xavier Burrus, Remington Goebel, River Burrus & Isabella Burrus and siblings: Christopher Burrus, Rosamond, IL and Sandra (David) Fleming, Pana, IL and significant other, Rebecca Burrus. He was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Burrus and niece, Emmalynn Fleming. Funeral services for Matthew will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Kenneth Morell officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home. Memorials in Matthew's honor may be made to the family and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
