Mary Mose

Mary Elizabeth Mose 82, of Decatur, IL passed away at 6:55 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in The Loft of Rock Springs Decatur, IL.

Mary was born April 23, 1944, in Decatur, IL the daughter of Howard and Helen (Gaffron) Preston. She graduated from Maroa-Forsyth High School in 1962. She married Orbie Mose. He preceded her in death on November 22, 1991. Mary had held several administrative positions at the Decatur Housing Authority during her twenty-two years of employment there. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, had served on the board for DOVE Inc., and was a member of the American Business Women of America for several years.

Surviving is her sister: Marty J. Burns (Rev. Gary) of Dana, IN; brothers: Larry D. Preston (Donna) of Maroa, IL and H. David Preston (Kim) of Maroa, IL; cousin: Donna K. Martin (William) of Chippewa Falls, WI; step daughter: Tina Carlson (Bob) of Spring Grove, IL, Vicky Rothley (Bill) of Punta Gorda, FL; one nephew, four nieces, six great-nieces, three great-nephews, two great-great nieces, six step grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild. In addition, Mary had four very special friends: Bree Welch, Linda Tyler, David Carr, and Sandy Lynch.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a step daughter and one great nephew.

The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. until 12 Noon, Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Calvert & Wikoff North Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday afternoon in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Mary’s memory to DOVE, Inc.
