Mary Alice Garner

Mary Alice Garner, 81, of Blue Mound, IL passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital.

A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Blue Mound. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mary will be laid to rest in Hall Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Blue Mound Memorial Library or the First Christian Church of Blue Mound.

Mary was born on October 8, 1933 in Danville, IL, the daughter of Charles and Frances (Elwell) Schultz. She taught at Ullrich Elementary School for 2 years then became a homemaker for the last 60 years. She was a member of First Christian Church of Blue Mound, Christian Women's Fellowship where she held many offices, trustee for the Blue Mound Memorial Library for 25 years, secretary for the Blue Mound Order of the Eastern Star for 30 years, Women's Club of Blue Mound, Girl Scout leader and cookie chairman for 20 years. Mary married F. Earl Garner on August 15, 1954.

Mary is survived by her husband: F. Earl Garner of Blue Mound, IL; children: Mary Susan Ramsey and her husband Gene of Delavan, IL, Betty Jean Garner of Peoria, IL, Joanne Frances Kersey and her husband Ken of Blue Mound, IL and Jack Earl Garner and his wife Kenya of Herrin, IL; grandchildren: Rebecca Jean Rodeffer and her husband Kevin, Brian Thomas Ramsey and his wife Akiko, Jessica Shalayne Kersey, Melissa Rae Kersey, Allison Elaine Kersey and Benjamin Alan Kersey; great grandchildren: Chloe, Micah, Jadon, Isaac, Cala and Cora.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers: Lester, Edwin and Chuck.
