Martha Keeney

Martha Keeney of Danvers, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at Hopedale Medical Complex in Hopedale, Illinois. Martha was the daughter of Clarence and June Webb Simpson. She married her beloved husband Lenville Keeney on November 19, 1950. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Gary Keeney.
Martha was a devoted mother to Linda Kurtz (Terry), Mike Keeney (Mary Lou), Sharon Abner, Gary Keeney (Lora), Donna Capaletti (Ruben), and Scott Keeney (Jamie).
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Amy Johnson (Rodney), Brian Kurtz (Katie), Elizabeth Verdick (Neal), Emily Brock (Jess), Mason Abner (Tamara), Jake Abner (Katie), Aaron Keeney, Andy Keeney (Emily), Ally Keeney, Austin Keeney (Lindsay), Antonia Johnson (Kirk), Miranda Gregerson (Conner), Nikolle Bauder (Marc), Brandon Keeney (Jamie), and Bailey Orander (Clay).
Martha was also blessed with 26 great-grandchildren: Brady and Mia Johnson; Hank, Ben, Malin, and Emma Kurtz; Lincoln and Lily Verdick; Estelle Brock; Beacon Abner and Lilly Abner; Amelia, Clyde and Jaxon Keeney; Reece Johnson; Miles, Shiloh, Emmeline, Maisie, and Everett Bauder; Charlotte, and Caroline Keeney; Millie Kate, Oliver, Arlington, and Teilah Orander.
She is survived by her sister, Carol, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Martha dedicated many years of service as secretary to the superintendent of the Olympia School District. She was also an active member of her community, serving as President of the Stanford Library Board for many years and participating in the neighborhood HI Club. A lifelong farmer, she took pride in her work and the life she built.
She will be remembered for her deep love of family, friends, and country, as well as her talents in sewing, quilting, and knitting.

The Funeral Service for Martha will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Otto Argo Calvert Funeral Chapel-Danvers Chapel. Burial to follow at Goose Creek Township Cemetery in Deland. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM also at the funeral home.
