Marjorie "Midge" Hart Obituary (1930 - 2024)

Marjorie “Midge” Hart, born November 4, 1930, in Springfield, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024. Midge attended Virden schools and graduated with the class of 1948. She began her career as a bookkeeper at Burris and Riffey Hardware. Later, she dedicated 30 years of service to Farmers and Merchants State Bank before retiring in 1990. A devoted member of the Virden Church of the Brethren, Midge contributed her time and talents to various church activities. She found joy in many hobbies, including biking, swimming, walking, reading, mowing, shopping, sending cards to loved ones, and traveling. Midge was also an active member of the Red Hat Society. Midge was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil M. Knox and Nellie E. Knox. In 1949, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Hart. Together they raised four children: William Bruce Hart, Carol (Eric) Peters, Linda Baumker, and Mary Hart. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her grandchildren: Bethany (Marc) Sattovia, Thomas Peters, Keaton Peters (Hayley Reichert), and Jared (AnneLiese) Bryant, as well as her great-grand children, Camden Sattovia, Annika Byrant, and Neve Bryant. A celebration of Midge’s life will be held on June 2nd at Airsman & Calvert Funeral Homes in Virden. Visitation will be from 12-2 with a service following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s. Midge’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
