Maria Martinez Diaz

Maria Martinez Diaz, 53, of Bloomington, passed away at 2:17 p.m., Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

Her funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington with Father Fabian officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the church.

Maria was born August 27, 1968 in Mexico, the daughter of Juan Diaz and Maria Diaz Belen. She married Emiliano Martinez on December 8, 1989 in Mexico and he survives in Bloomington.

She is also survived by her father of Bloomington; four children, Rosa (Antonio) Castro Martinez, Fernando Martinez, Juan (Angela Watts) Martinez and Emiliano (Elizabeth Cruz) Martinez, Jr, all of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Richard Martinez, Maribel, Antonio and Sofia Castro; nine brothers and sisters, Rafael (Noelia) Diaz of Bloomington, Gregorio (Betania) Diaz of Streator, Marco (Elva) Diaz, Mario (Ivon) Diaz, Josefina (Rene) Contreras, Juana (Jose) Venegas, Maria I. (Julio) Lopez, Donna (Victor) Oliveras and Enrique (Guadalupe) Aguilar, all of Bloomington; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Her mother preceded her in death.

Maria owned and operated Rosy's Grill in Bloomington. She was a wonderful cook and loved to travel. Maria was the life of any party, had a great sense of humor and always lived life to the fullest. She was a kind, open minded, caring and humble person who loved spending time with family and friends.

Maria loved her children and grandchildren. She was a great wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and aunt who will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
