Mari Anne "Mertz" Arnolts Obituary (1951 - 2024)

Mari Anne "Mertz" Arnolts, 72, of Pontiac, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 7:11 p.m. at Flanagan Long Term Care Facility in Flanagan. Her graveside service will be on May 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Joe Baker. Inurnment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Pontiac. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor is in charge of arrangements. Mertz was born on July 5, 1951, to Francis E. and Marie A (Schopp) Arnolts. Surviving are her brothers, Frank (Carol) Arnolts of Pontiac and James Arnolts of Pearidge, AR and nieces and nephews, Susie (Kevin) Garrett, Jackie (Chad) Larson, Frank III (Kayla) Arnolts, Tom (Elizabeth) Arnolts, Tricia (Brad) Brewer, Ashley Arnolts, Kasey (Eric Brown) Kramer, Scott (Lily) Kramer and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jeanne Kramer. Mertz spent her career as a Beautician serving the Pontiac area. One of her proudest moments was opening her own shop, Hair Repair. Outside of her career, Mertz was active in the community supporting organizations like the Vermillion Players. Her finest role was in the production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown” where she starred as Snoopy. On any given Labor Day, her and her trademark convertible could be seen in the Threshermen's Parade. Anybody who knew Mertz knew she was an avid baker. Family, friends, and clients always anticipated her delivering her famous holiday sugar cookies. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac.
