Margaret Joyce Dietsch Thompson

Margaret “Joyce” Dietsch Thompson, 98, of Normal, passed away Monday, October 13, 2025, at McLean County Nursing Home.

Joyce was born on March 9, 1927, Shropshire, England, to Albert and Annie (Adams) Bromfield. She met Robert Dietsch while he was stationed in England during WWII. They were married on February 22, 1947. They were married 42 years until his death in 1989. She married Marvin C. Thompson in 1999 and were married until his death in 2015.

She was also preceded in death by her son Michael and two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Stacey.

She is survived by seven children, Chris (Vicky), Steve (Marlisa), Tony (Lynn), Tim (Jane), Larry (Angie), Cathy (John) and Mary (Ed, dear friend), Diane (Greg); twenty-four grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

Mom was known for her beautiful knitting projects including baby blankets for every child in the family and also Christmas stockings. She was also known for her wonderful sense of humor; and loved hearing a good joke.

When you think of our beautiful Mum, please raise a good cup of Brittish tea!

She was loved by everyone that knew her and will be missed so very much.

In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
