Margaret K. Schaefer Thomas Obituary (1929 - 2008)

Margaret Katherine "Maya" Schaefer Thomas, 78, of Taylorville, IL died at 1:09 pm Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born March 8, 1929 in Nokomis, IL the daughter of Charles A. and Violet Beckham Zueck, Sr. She married Jack W. Schaefer on December 28, 1946 in Nokomis, IL and he preceded in death on August 8, 1971. She then married William L. Thomas on July 14, 1975 and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2007. She owned and operated Maya's Fabric Garden in Taylorville and retired in 1991 as purchasing agent for Christian County Medical Clinic. Surviving are her son: John Schaefer and wife Lindsey of Taylorville, IL; Daughers: Suzanne Havener Harden and husband Dale of Orlando, FL, Jane Wojtena and husband Joe of Ft. Meyers, FL and Molly Hannigan and husband Michael of Mequon, WI. Step Son: Michael Thomas and wife Denise of Santa Cruz, NM, Step Daughters: Elaine Burton and husband Jim of Mesa, AZ and Deb Underwood and husband Bob of Phoenix, AZ. Two Brothers: Charles A. "Butch" Zueck, Jr. and wife Mary of Taylorville, IL and Robert Zueck and wife Rose of Pana, IL. There are 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and grandson, David Michael Wojtena. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Taylorville with Father Dan Willenborg officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
