Marcia L. Beranek Obituary (1953 - 2024)

Marcia Louise Beranek, 70, formerly of Toluca, IL and Lafayette, IN passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2024, at The Baptist Home in Ozark, MO. She was born March 3, 1953, in Streator, IL to Raymond and Lola (Schoof) McClure. Her marriage was to Terry Beranek. A graduate of Belmont University and subsequently Purdue University, she served as a teacher in several school districts throughout Illinois and Indiana. Surviving are a daughter Katie Gillis (husband: Patrick) of Williamsburg, VA and a son Benjamin Beranek of Springfield, MO. Preceding her in death were her parents and husband. Marcia was the loving grandmother of Charley, Gretel, and Indiana Gillis. She was a caring mother and sweet friend to many. She held a steadfast faith in Jesus and was filled with a sparkling enthusiasm that helped all feel welcome. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Antioch Christian Church in Toluca, IL with Father Justin Hogg officiating. Burial will follow at Rutland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Messiah Project or the Goken Endowment Fund. The Messiah Project is a fine arts organization in Springfield, Missouri that shares performances of Handel’s Messiah throughout the world ( https://messiahproject.org/ ). The Goken Endowment Fund helps fund college scholarships for those who wish to continue their education to better provide for themselves and their families and is stewarded by the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette ( https://www.inspiringgreater.org/ ). Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca is assisting the family with services.
