Mae E. Brewer Obituary (1943

Mae E. Brewer, 80, of Pontiac passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at 10:27 p.m. at her residence. Her services will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at the First Methodist Church in Pontiac with Pastor Gretchen Stinebaugh. Her burial will be in South Side Cemetery in Pontiac following cremation. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mae was born on October 13, 1943, in Fairbury to Mitchell and Harriet (Boyd) Meenen. She married Donald M. Brewer on July 26, 1964, in Forrest. He passed away on May 2, 1994. She later married Lester Sengpiel. He passed away on May 29, 2014. Surviving are her children, Elizabeth “Libby” Armstrong of Shorewood and Mark E. (Shannon) Brewer of Pontiac; brother, Ray (Shirley) Meenen of Forrest; and grandchild; Piper Brewer of Pontiac. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Donald Brewer and Lester Sengpiel; and one infant son, Donald Michael Brewer Jr. Mae was educated in Forrest-Strawn-Wing schools, graduated from University of Illinois receiving a music degree and later her teaching degree. She taught music in Dwight and Sunbury School. After receiving her elementary teaching certificate, she went on to teach kindergarten and 1st grade at Sunbury School and 4th grade in Odell schools. Mae was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pontiac and has been the organist since 1984. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Livingston County Humane Society.
