Lyndell D. White Obituary (1925

Lyndell D. White 91, of Decatur, IL passed away at 1:21 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in the Grandview Alzheimers Care Center, Peoria, IL. A service to celebrate Lyndells life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Saturday evening. Lyndell was born August 9, 1925, in Decatur, IL the son of David L. and Leveata (Scales) White. He married Marian J. Andrews on February 26, 1955. She preceded him in death on April 19, 1998. He retired in 1990 after forty-seven years of service from A. E. Staley Manufacturing Company (Tate & Lyle). Lyndell was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and assisted part-time at the church providing many of their printing needs. He was a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan and Chicago Bears fan. He enjoyed traveling with his family and had traveled to forty-nine different states and most of the Canadian provinces. Lyndell was an avid bowler and had formerly bowled in three different leagues. He was a member of the Stephen Decatur Masonic Lodge #979. Surviving is his son: David L. White and his wife Melody of Peoria, IL; granddaughters: Elizabeth White of Peoria and Kathryn White of Indianapolis, IN; brother: Donald C. White of Decatur; and sister: Margaret (White) Shepherd of Decatur. He was preceded in death by his wife. daughter: Donna J. White, parents, brother: David W. White and his sister: Jean (White) Dyer.
