Lucinda "Cindy" Justus, 75, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Ellsworth. Born on May 29, 1949, Cindy lived a life marked by unwavering love for her family and deep devotion to her faith. Cindy is the daughter of Kathryn and Herbert Huette. She grew up in Morton, Illinois, with her brother Ralph. Cindy and Ralph were very close, and she cherished his phone calls and visits. Cindy, preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Justus, is survived by her children: daughter Allison Nelson and her husband Andrew; and son Andrew Justus and his partner Haley. She cherished being a grandma to Dakota and his wife Katie, Drew, Tannin and his wife Mikaela, Kathryn, Isabel, and Judah. She also enjoyed being a great-grandma to Evelyn, Thomas, and John. Cindy’s life was centered around love—love for Jesus, love for her family, and love for others. She began each day with quiet time in scripture, drawing strength and peace from the Word. Her faith was not only a personal comfort but also a guiding light that shaped how she treated others—with kindness, patience, and grace. Those who knew Cindy remember her as the kindest and most loving presence in any room. She had an extraordinary ability to be fully present with those around her—listening intently, offering encouragement freely, and helping wherever she could. Whether it was through a warm embrace or a thoughtful word at just the right moment, Cindy made people feel seen and loved. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Mackinaw Community Center located at 101 S Orchard St., Mackinaw, Illinois 61755. The family will receive guests from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM with a short service to follow. Cindy’s memory will live on in the lives she touched so deeply.
