Leslie “Gene” Brown age 91 of Bloomington IL passed away at 11:46 AM on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, IL. His Visitation will be 10 AM-12 Noon Friday, December 13, 2024, at Eastview Christian Church, Normal IL. His funeral service will be 12 Noon Friday, December 13, 2024, in the sanctuary at Eastview Christian Church, Normal IL. Pastor Scott Patterson will be officiating. Military rites will be accorded at the church after the service by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Burial will be at East Lawn Cemetery, Bloomington, IL. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or ALS. Arrangements are being handled by Beck Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL.

Gene was born January 17, 1933, in Kappa, IL, the son of Leslie and Faye Sparks Brown.
He married Lois Bigger in 1953 in Hudson, IL. She passed away September 4, 2006. He later married Mary Ellen O’Neil Lake on June 20, 2009, in Bloomington, IL. She survives.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents and a stepdaughter Tami Lake.

Gene served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He had been a manager at General Telephone Company until he retired in 1990. Gene enjoyed fishing and golfing with the “Prune Juice League.” Gene had a smile that would light up the room. He was a handyman and built his own house in Hudson. His family always came first. Gene was well liked by everyone and had a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
