Laurel Fairley Obituary (1932

Laurel Lee Fairley, 92, resident of Goldwater Care in Pontiac, passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024 at the home. She was born July 9, 1932 in Pontiac, the daughter of Hiram and Jane Bowers Rockenbach. She was married to Jerry Fairley. He precedes her in death. Laurel is survived by two sons, Doug Hanson and David (Dawn) Hanson; a daughter, Laurie (Richard) Terven; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Carol (deceased husband, Ronald) Flessner; a niece and a nephew. She is preceded in death by two sons, Richard and Gregory Hanson; a grandson, Dylan Hanson; and a sister, Sharon Daugherty. Laurel was a registered nurse, working at OSF St James Hospital in Pontiac for many years. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church. Laurel was an avid reader and an animal lover, and was especially fond of her Jack Russell terrier, Bernie. A memorial service will be held Friday morning September 13th at 11 a.m. at Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac with Pastor Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Livingston County Humane Society or the Pontiac Public Library.
