Larry "Stymie" Theesfield Obituary (1951

Larry “Stymie” G. Theesfield, 73, of Flanagan, IL went to meet Jesus at 10:45am on Monday, January 6, 2025, at OSF, Pontiac. Funeral services will be 11am on Saturday, January 11th at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Flanagan, with Pastor Ben Blobaum officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery. Visitation will be 4pm-7pm on Friday, January 10th at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or Flanagan American Legion. Larry was born August 15, 1951, in Pontiac, IL the son of Ernest and Deloris (Studebaker) Theesfield. He married Kathryn E. Kuepker on June 18, 1983, in Flangan. She survives along with four children Jamie (Sharon) Salvator of Missouri, Joe Salvator of Maryland, Karen (Jordan) Wright of Pontiac, and Lena Kate Theesfield of Peoria Heights; one sister Kathy Jo Theesfield of Flanagan; six grandchildren Ariel, Jessica, Vicki, Calvin, Marley, and Charlie; and three great grandchildren Michaela, Mason, and Maverick. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Jeffery. Larry was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Flanagan, where he had served as church council President. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He worked as a technician at DuPont in El Paso for over 30 years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and he flew his Cubs flag every chance he got. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden where he cultivated every detail and took great pride in them. He could often be found in his garage listening to the blues or classic rock, and had his beer 30 every day at 3:30pm, usually a cold Busch light. In retirement he enjoyed fishing with his dad and his uncle Vic Theesfield. In the winter he preferred a warm spot on the beach in Florida where he and Kathy had vacationed for the past several years. Larry was affectionately known as Stymie by his many friends. He was a wonderful husband, son, brother, father, and friend, but his favorite role was Grandpa.
