Larry Lee Cornthwaite Obituary (1936

Larry Lee Cornthwaite, 89, of Elwin, IL passed away January 6th, 2026 at 8:02 in the morning. Larry requested no memorial service and cremation will be performed by Calvert & Wikoff North Chapel of Decatur. Larry was born to Cassie (Eastham) and Albert “Shorty” Cornthwaite in a farmhouse on November 2nd, 1936. Larry married Eva (Sarver) on September 15th, 1956. Larry farmed the property on the north end of Cornthwaite Road for many decades while also working at PPG in Mt. Zion and briefly as a semi driver until he retired to Florida with his wife in 1996. Larry spent his youth attending Mt Zion schools as an athlete on both the football and basketball teams. In his spare time, Larry was an avid gun collector and enjoyed golfing with friends or practicing his swing in the back yard before returning to Decatur in 2017 during Hurricane Irma. He finally settled at Eagle Ridge of Decatur where he spent his time with his wife watching football and basketball as well as the news and visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. Surviving are his wife, daughters Cindy See of Ft. Myers, Fl. and Cris Jenkins of Decatur, IL., his grandchildren Amy (Cody), Shannon (Elizabeth), Ryan (Claudia), Jeremy (Katy), and Kaitlin as well as his 6 great grandchildren.
