Larry D. Howard

Larry D. Howard age 72 of Normal IL passed away at 6:09 PM on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his residence. His memorial service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 27, 2019 Heartland Community Church 1811 N. Linden St., Normal IL with military rites accorded at the church by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Ron Schweinberg will be officiating. Visitation will be 12 Noon-1:00 PM Wednesday at the church. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Cremation services provided by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. The family suggests memorials be made to Illinois Special Olympics or Victory Junction or the Wounded Warriors Project

Larry was born December 6, 1946 in Bloomington, IL the son of William Godden and Anna Orr.

He was married to his best friend of 40 years Phyllis Shepard. She survives. Also surviving are their 2 daughters, Debra Thoms, Normal IL, Brandy ( Jennifer Miller) Howard, 4 grandchildren, Whitney Thoms, Bloomington, IL, Tyler (Carlee) Thompson, Bloomington, IL, Allie (Isaiah Young) Thoms, Normal, IL, J.T. Thoms, Normal, IL, 1 great-granddaughter, Elia Young, Normal, IL,1 brother, Carlos (Laurelle) Embry, Bloomington, IL, also surviving are several nieces, nephews aunts and cousins.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, mother, adopted father, Charles Howard and step father, Phillip Butler.

Larry had worked at General Electric for 33 years. He served in the US Army. Prior to going into the service, he helped his uncles farm. He was an avid Chicago Cubs & Bears fan.
