Kathy Louise Wheeler, 68 passed peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on the evening of Friday December 12, 2025. Kathy was the daughter of David Earl Alderton and Shirley Ann Dill Alderton. Kathy grew up in Ewing, MO and was a 1975 graduate of Highland High School. Kathy retired in 2023 after a long, dedicated, and passionate work career.
Kathy is survived by one Brother Russell Alderton of Lexington, IL. Three children; Carrie (Mike Brassfield) Dyel of Quincy, IL, Kayla (John) Demlow of Ellsworth, IL, and Kyle Wheeler of Fort Bragg, CA. Five grandchildren; Dylan Dyel, Avery Dyel, Hadley Wheeler, Benjamin Demlow, and Bradley Demlow. A niece Stormy Alderton, nephew Dallas Alderton.
Kathy was proceeded in death by her parents, two brothers; Richard E. Alderton and Roger Dale Alderton.
She enjoyed spending time with family, especially with her grandchildren. Kathy also enjoyed traveling with her daughters and her lifelong best friend Yvonne Pealer. Her favorite places to be were in the beautiful Mountains of Colorado, warm beaches of Florida, and on her front porch with the wind chimes playing, which gave her much relaxation.
Kathy was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and often could hear her saying she’s turning the game off if they weren't playing well. She loved flowers and had quite the green thumb.
To know Kathy was to know her huge heart and passion for her family, friends, and life. She always made sure that her family was taken care of, always there to help, and get things done. She loved fiercely and was at peace knowing how much her family and best friend loved her. She went home to Heaven and was ready to be reunited with her parents, baby brothers and forever beloved pup, Abbie Sue.
In keeping with Kathy’s wishes, cremation has occurred. A celebration of life honoring her will be held at a later date. Details will be shared as they become available. In lieu of flowers, donations to a local animal shelter or St. Jude’s in her honor are appreciated.
