Kathryn W. "Kathi" Schweizer Obituary (1940

Kathryn W. “Kathi” Schweizer 83, of Cornell, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at 5:27 p.m. at OSF St. James Hospital in Pontiac surrounded by her family. Her services will be on Saturday February 17, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Jarrod Bartholomew Visitation will be on February 17, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the Pontiac Bible Church in Pontiac. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Kathi was born on May 1, 1940, in Berwyn, to Ben E. and Genevieve (Widner) Wagner. She married William B. “Bill” Schweizer on June 18, 1960, in Riverside, IL. He passed away on February 16, 2018. Surviving are her children, Jeff W. (Dr. Heather) Schweizer of North Port, FL, Todd Schweizer of Thailand, Laura L. (Dave) Schuler of Cornell, IL, Amy (Jamie) Vitton of West Plains, MO, and Jon D. Schweizer of Marseilles, IL; grandchildren, Ben (Autumn) Schweizer, Kate (Kaitlyn) Schweizer, Dan Schweizer, Sam (Kirsten) Herr, Eric Schweizer, Aaron Herr, Sibelle Schweizer, John Trainor, James Trainor, Ezekiel Vitton, Seleh Vitton, Hadassah Vitton, and Isaac Vitton; and great grandchildren, Cole Schweizer, Blake Schweizer, Luke Schweizer, Anthony Schweizer, Zelle Schweizer, Augie Schweizer, Malcom Schweizer, and Winston Schweizer. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; grandchild, Jordann Trainor; brother, John Wagner; and sister, Virginia Lupfer Kathi graduated from Riverside Brookfield High School, attended Northwestern University. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pontiac Bible Church in Pontiac. She was a life time member of Country Card Club of Cornell. Kathi’s desire was to be a mom and homemaker, which she passed on to her daughter’s. Her love of children led to the adoption of 2 of her children, Todd, and Amy. She also had a God given love for animals. She was known to dress up her cats and stroll down the sidewalk as a child. This love continued as an adult leading to many varieties of rescued animals such as a lamb, raccoon, goat, many cats, and many dogs. She was a gifted seamstress, loved to read and do crossword puzzles. She had a huge love for Jesus even through her dementia.
