Karen Gayle Durre Obituary (1942

FLANAGAN- Karen Gayle Durre, 82, of Flanagan, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Flanagan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flanagan. A celebration of life will be from 3-7 PM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Flanagan American Legion. Private inurnment will be in Center Cemetery, Flanagan. Memorials may be given to Flanagan American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, or to Flanagan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home in Flanagan is in charge of arrangements. Karen was born in Streator on April 11, 1942, a daughter to Clinton Edward and Gayle (Beamon) Mills. She married Allan Ray Durre on June 6, 1980, in Forrest, Illinois. He survives. Also surviving are her children, Rick (Bonnie) Durre, Gridley, Marla (Chris) Moore, Pontiac; 3 grandchildren, Jacob and Josh Moore, Michael Durre; brother, Bill Mills, sisters, Kathy (Jerry) Erschen, Kris (Larry) Gamblin, Kandi (Randy) Perry, Kim (Schulz) Ron. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 4 brothers, Keith, Butch, Kaye, and Kendall Mills. Karen started her career at Cornell Grade School and then worked for Pontiac School District for 29 years. Her and Al would spend many years on the weekends boating on the Illinois River. Later, they left boating to camp at Condit’s Ranch where they enjoyed many years there with family and friends. In the winter they would venture out to Biloxi, Mississippi to escape the cold Illinois winters. During their adventures, whether on water or land, they made great memories and many lifelong friends.
