Justin C. Owen, 37, of Odell, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Cremation rites have been accorded. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 7:00 pm at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac with Jim Hailey officiating. A visitation will be held the same day at the funeral home from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. Justin was born July 24, 1985, in Pontiac, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Tamara Owen. His mother survives in Odell, Illinois. He is also survived by his sisters, Renee Owen and Misty (Daniel) Patchett and nieces and nephews, Jacob Owen, Eva Patchett, and Connor Patchett. Maternal aunts and uncles: William Zitnik (Shelly Barton), Debbi (Ron) Snyder, Sean (Kathy) Zitnik, and Scott Zitnik (Connie Kerlin). Paternal aunts and uncles: Richard Owen, Terri (Marlyn) Owen, Tony Owen, Mike Owen, Steve (Brandy) Owen, and Kristal (Matt) Wolfe. Cousins: Jessica Lovell, Tiffany (Kaylee) Cromp, Brittany Snyder (Tony Aukett), Mathew Snyder, Kerry (Shawna) Owen, Angela Owen, Samantha Owen, Tanya (Josh) Craig, Chris Owen, Brandon (Rickie Jo) Owen, Joshua Owen, Jacob Owen, Cierra Reed, Allyson Reed, Gage Reed, and Payton Reed. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph; his maternal grandparents, Verne and Paul Zitnik; and paternal grandparents, Ann Newell and Joseph Owen, and Uncle Jason Reed. Justin went to St. Paul's Grade School in Odell and graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 2005. He was an extraordinary person his entire life. A soft-spoken introvert, always lending a helping hand, and the absolute best uncle with a baby whisper touch. He loved his family dearly, never leaving mom's house to care for her, being a father figure to Jacob, and the fun uncle to Misty's Littles. He was a loving brother, son, family member, and the dearest friend to Wes and Mary. Please continue to pray for Justin's soul, our family, and strength to get through this.
