Julian Carranza Rivera Obituary (1953

Julian Carranza Rivera, age 70, of Chatsworth, IL, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at 12:20 p.m. at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL, surrounded by his loving family. Cremation rites have been accorded. Per his wishes, there will be no services. Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth, IL, is in charge of the arrangements. Julian was born on November 22, 1953, in Cerrito Nuevo, Tamaulipas (Mexico), to Rosalio and Guadalupe (Carranza) Rivera. He married the love of his life, Nora Idalia Rivera on June 29, 1973, in Edinburg, TX. She preceded him in death on September 3, 2023. He is survived by his children: Rosalio Rivera of Chatsworth, Veronica (Saul) Gonzalez of Streator, Rebeca (Jose) Rivera-Garcia of Chatsworth; six grandchildren: Cristian (Ivana) Rivera, Daniel, Monserrat, Zulema, Nayla, and Amaris; great-grandchildren: Adelina, Mireya, Cruz, and baby Rivera due in October. He is also survived by his siblings: Lourdes Quintero, Cristina (Miguel) Gonzalez, Rosa (Manuel) Lopez, Enedelina (Antonio) Salinas, and Jesus Rivera. He is preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of 50 years: Nora Idalia Rivera, and siblings: Homero Rivera and Claudia Uresti. Julian was a faithful member of Life Church in Gilman, IL. He worked for Interlake Inc. in Pontiac, IL, for 35+ years. Julian loved to tell stories of his life. His stories captivated you. When he was finished you realized this man had seen and lived a lot. He knew no stranger…he could make friends with anyone and everyone. For a man who constantly wore a stern look on his face, he was forever joking around and pulling pranks. Julian’s favorite pastime was working and tending to his home and yard. He was happy being outdoors. When he wasn’t working in his yard he was driving around town with his beloved Yorkie, Peek-A-Boo, checking up on his family and gathering the town gossip. Julian loved his music…his favorites were old Country, Honky Tonk, and Mexican music. For as long as his children can remember, Julian had and tinkered with an accordion. His children agree that the family musical gene may have skipped him! Julian’s greatest love was his wife and family. He loved and adored them all. Especially, his grand and great grandkids. Julian will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. His departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound. His children will forever be grateful for the love and sacrifices he gave and made.
