Joyce was born on October 19, 1937, in Pontiac, Il. She was the daughter of Henry Herman and Alverta Mae (Shoop) Mehrkens. She was united in marriage to her first husband John Snow on March 22, 1958, until he passed away due to a construction accident on October 3, 1967. She later married her second husband Stanley (Red) Lorrance Sr. on March 29, 1969, until his passing on March 11, 2016.
Joyce is survived by her children; Jolene Moss, John (Diana Nanninga) Snow, Jerry (Sandy)Snow, Brenda Keene. Her eight grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands John Snow and Stanley (Red)Lorrance Sr, one daughter, Teresa (Snow) Gaither, a grandson, Bryan Moss, her sons-in law, Mike Keene and Micheal Moss, and her brother, Ronald (late Barbara) Mehrkens.
Joyce was a homemaker. She raised her kids to be strong and independent. She loved her children but loved all her grandchildren even more. It made her day when the grandkids came to visit.
She wasn’t just a mom to her kids, but to many of their friends too. Those “kids” had a special place in her heart. Her sons-in law and daughters-in law were her kids too, not just “in-laws”.
She enjoyed watching Nascar races. Everyone knew to make sure they didn’t call her during “her show” The Young and the Restless. She watched it daily up until a few days before her passing.
Joyce enjoyed working in her yard and having fresh flowers to brighten it up.
After Red retired they moved to Florida and then Alabama before returning home in 2005. They loved traveling together in their motor home, but Pontiac was always her home.
During the summer everyone enjoyed her chocolate zucchini cake that she would make for each family.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Gift of Hope (www.giftofhope.org) or St Jude Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org).
