Joseph “J” “Joe” J. Martin, age 59, of Pontiac, IL, passed away at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at his residence. Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, located at 701 N. 7th Street, Fairbury, IL, 61739. Memorials in Joe’s memory may be made to the family. They will personally give them to a beloved charity of their choice. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements. Joseph was born on October 3, 1965, in Chicago, IL, to Kenneth F. and Louise A. (Taylor) Martin. He married Sheri L. McCune on June 21, 2009, in Peoria, IL. Survivors include his wife: Sheri Martin; children: Jennifer (Cary Lewis Jr.) Poindexter, Maranda (Keenen) Beck; Braden Martin (Deceased), Breanna (Eric) Dayton, and Nora McCune; 16 grandchildren: Isaiah, Aiven, Abrianna, Kayshawn, Kee'Maris, Mar'Karis, Infinity, Ja'Karis, Ta'Maris, Gabe, Zack, Camden, Abbie, Wesley, Lyllien, Lennox; and two siblings: Sue (Clarence) Thurston of LeRoy, IL, and Edward Martin of Chicago, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers: Kenneth Martin and Richard Martin. Joe was self-employed as a personal trainer and proudly owned Martin’s Boxing Fitness Gym. J was an avid Los Angeles Rams football fan, and a proud Donald Trump supporter. He was a devoted and dedicated Christian who enjoyed spreading his knowledge and love for Jesus Christ to others. He made an enormous and everlasting impact in his community, and in countless lives over his 59 years. He had a huge and generous heart filled with so much love for others. He would do absolutely anything for anyone without hesitation. Above all, Joe loved his family. He was very protective of his friends and family and loved each and every one of them endlessly. He made so many precious memories that will now be forever cherished and carried in the hearts of his loved ones. He truly was the best husband, dad, brother, and grandpa in the whole entire world.
