John W. "Jack" Menssen

John W. Menssen “Jack,” age 89, of Hudson, Illinois, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025.

He was born on March 25th, 1936 in Pekin, Illinois. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Menssen, daughter Dorinda Menssen, grandson Andy and great grandson Eli. He is survived by his three sons: Andrew Menssen (Donna), Derrick Menssen (Lisa), and Isaac Menssen (Kelli). Jack was a proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and was also blessed with several great-grandchildren.

Jack proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a dedicated member of the American Legion.

Jack enjoyed motorcycle racing and especially bass fishing with his grandson, Jason, a pastime that meant a great deal to him.

The family would like to thank Vitas Healthcare for their hospice services and excellent care.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Calvert Metzler Funeral Home, 1115 E. Washington Street, Bloomington, Illinois.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at the funeral home with military honors conducted by the Bloomington/Normal American Legion Honor Guard following the service. Burial will follow at Hudson Cemetery, Hudson, Illinois.

Jack will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his honorable military service, his commitment to his community, and the many memories he shared with those who knew and loved him.
