John W. Thorne

ODELL - John W. Thorne, 84, Odell, died at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2007) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Duffy Funeral Home, Odell. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

He was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Nevada Township, Livingston County, son of John and Kathryn Branz Thorne. He married Wanda Atterberry on Dec. 10, 1944, in Odell.

He is survived by two sons, Richard (Iris) Thorne, Odell, and David (Diane) Thorne, New Lenox; two daughters, Vicki (James) Nichols, Lowell, Ind., and Paula (Ralph) Boase, Crown Point, Ind.; two brothers, George (Fayetta) Thorne and James (Dorothy) Thorne, both of Odell; sister-in-law, Phyllis Thorne, Odell; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse and three brothers, Arnold, Clarence and Donald Thorne.

He had been a farmer in the Odell area until retirement.

He was a member of the United Church of Odell.
