John Rogers

John Robert Rogers, 66, of Mt. Auburn, IL, passed away at Taylorville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, April 8, 2026. He was born on March 5, 1960, in Decatur, IL, to Eugene Robert and Doris June (Barker) Rogers. On March 18, 1978, he married Christy Jo Clayton at Berea Christian Church in Mt. Auburn, and they spent many beautiful years together and were blessed with two children.

John was a truck driver for over forty years before happily retiring in 2025. He was an avid NASCAR fan all his life and loved watching the races. In his free time, he enjoyed scrapping metal with his best friend, Eugene McConnell, and spending time with family and friends at the lake around a fire. Above all, he cherished his family and adored his grandchildren. He was their biggest fan and loved watching them play sports, cheering loudly from the stands.

Surviving is his loving wife: Christy Rogers of Mt. Auburn, IL; sons: Brandon (Kristen) Rogers of Taylorville, IL; Rocky (Lacey) Rogers of Taylorville, IL; grandchildren: Vivian (Hayden) Wertz; Sophia Rogers; Grace Rogers; Griffin Rogers; Addilyn Rogers; Jaxon Rogers; siblings: Mike (Belinda) Rogers; Sharon (Fred) Phillips; Karen Jackson; Brenda (Kevin) Roberts; David (Darla) Rogers; and George Rogers; as well as his sister-in-law: Patty Rogers; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Don Rogers.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Joy Assembly Church in Stonington. A funeral service will be held the following day, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
