John P. Marchetti

John P. Marchetti, 71, of Pontiac, passed away Monday, November 25, 2019, at 7:10 a.m. at his home.
His service will be Monday, December 2, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home in Pontiac with Deacon Jim Wallace officiating. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dwight will be held at a later date.
Visitation will be Monday, December 2, 2019, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.
John was born January 1, 1948, in Chicago, IL to Peter M. and Juanita E. (Forcum) Marchetti. He married Linda L. Metroz on February 21, 1972, in Nevada. She passed away January 11, 2019.
He is survived by his children, Tami S. (Paul Watson) Welch of Pontiac, IL, Michelle M. Marchetti of Pontiac, IL, Jason P. Marchetti of Pontiac, IL, Kim A. (John) Williams of Pontiac, IL, and Josh P. (Amy Mekarski) of Chenoa, IL; grandchildren, Lute, Bryce, Jake, Jacob, Jonathan, Kinzie, Kael, Rory, and Gianna; great-grandchildren, Penelope and Damon; and his beloved pets, Oreo and Ginger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; one grandson, Matthew; and one son-in-law, Stephen M. Welch.
John was a graduate of Dwight High School. He served in the United States Navy and also with the National Guard for more than 20 years. John worked at Interlake Steel until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Pontiac and the Pontiac VFW Post #886.
