John C. "Jack" Herbert

John C. "Jack" Herbert, 75, of Macon, IL passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at his home in Macon.
A service to honor and celebrate Jack's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Macon. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date. The family would like to invite everyone to a celebration luncheon at the Macon Community Center immediately following the funeral service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Care Center of Decatur or DMH Hospice.
Jack was born on August 14, 1943 in Decatur, IL, the son of Claire and Benita (Hohenstein) Herbert. Jack married Frances "Fran" Tomlinson on October 2, 1965. Jack was co-owner of Macon Ag Service, Inc for 31 years and was co-owner of Herbert Trucking for 27 years. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, neighbors, employees, customers and the Macon High School Class of 1961.
Jack is survived by his wife: Fran Herbert of Macon, IL; daughter: Beth Ann (Greg) Berger of Macon, IL; sons: John Herbert of Los Angeles, CA and Steven Herbert of Westerville, OH; grandsons: Nathan Berger, Jackson, Chase and Alexander Herbert; sister: Carla (Harold) Hathaway of Leavenworth, KS; sisters-in-law: Ellen (Berneil) Burns of Macon, IL and Mary Ann Cooper of Peoria, IL; special nephew: Kevin Tomlinson of Gilroy, CA. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Mark T. Herbert, Sr., mother-in-law: Edith Barding and sister-in-law: Cynthia Niemeyer.
