John E. Baker, 65 of Chatsworth, IL died Tuesday August 25, 2020 at 3:17PM at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family memorial service will be held on Saturday August 29, 2020 at 3:00PM at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth, IL with Pastor Edward Bunt officiating. A visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00-2:45PM. Inurnment will be at a later date at Chatsworth Cemetery. The visitation and service will be held in accordance with current Covid-19 guidelines. Memorials in John's name may be made to American cancer Society.
John was born on March 8, 1955 in Fairbury, IL a son of Russell and Marjorie (Whitfield) Baker. He married Glenda Faye Bell on November 19, 1976 in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Chatsworth, IL. Also surviving are two children: Kandi (Keith) Riley of Horton, MI and Brandon (Cheryl) Baker of Colfax, IL; five grandchildren: Trevor, Hannah, Jaxon, Talan and Easton; five brothers: David Baker of Forrest, IL, Earl Baker of Pontiac, IL, Jim Baker of Piper City, IL, Mike Baker of Fairbury, IL and Randy Baker of Forrest, IL; three sisters: Theresia Quigley of Forrest, IL, Suzanne Johnson of Russell Springs, KY and Julie Baker of Ft. Wayne, IN. John was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Willie Baker.
John was a graduate of Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School. He was a road construction worker for Local #996 out of Roanoke, IL.
John was a loving husband, dad and a proud Papaw. He loved hard with tons of advice along the way, even if you didn't need it. It was important to him to have his kids and grandkids home and the house filled with love and laughter. He spoiled each grandkid and made sure they always felt special in their own way. John was an avid race fan, cheering on the Earnhardt's. He loved Hawaii, the beach and his Hawaiian shirts. John's infamous laugh will be missed and the light that he brought.Hang Loose.
