Joann Edith Schlosser

Henry, Illinois

Joann Edith Schlosser, age 88, of Starke, Florida, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2026. Raised in Henry, Illinois, Joann was the daughter of the late Sulcer and Pearl Debolt. Joann found her best friend and lifelong companion in Calvin Eugene "Pete" Schlosser. The two were united in marriage and shared a beautiful life together, filled with love, devotion, and cherished memories. During Calvin's dedicated service in the United States Navy, the couple traveled across the country, embracing each new place as another chapter in their journey together. Along the way, Joann and Calvin made one of the most meaningful decisions of their lives when they opened their hearts and home through adoption, welcoming their beloved son, Peter, and daughter, Angela. Together, they built a loving family that would remain Joann's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. After spending time in Jacksonville, Florida, Joann and her family made Starke their permanent home in 1980, where she spent the remainder of her life. A devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, Joann dedicated herself wholeheartedly to caring for her family and creating a home filled with warmth and love. She treasured the simple joys of family life and found her greatest happiness in the people she held closest to her heart. As her family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, so did the love and pride she carried for each of them. The memories made throughout the years will forever be cherished by those she loved so dearly. Joann was preceded in death by her parents, Sulcer and Pearl Debolt; her beloved husband, Calvin Eugene "Pete" Schlosser; her brother, Orie (Peggy) Debolt; and her sisters, Betty (Kenny) Miles and Rita (Milford "Slats") Schlosser.
She is survived by her loving children, Peter M. (Sheila) Schlosser of Starke, Florida, and Angela M. (Kyle) Schumacher of Salem, Ohio; her cherished grandchildren, Jessica (Troy) Thrift, Erica (KC) Drew, Elissa Schlosser, Scott (Lianna) Schumacher, Justin Clem, Joanna Clem, and Leeana Schumacher; and her nine adored great-grandchildren, Abigail Thrift, Molly Drew, Zeruiah Schumacher, Xemirah Schumacher, Aramiah Schumacher, Ember Mallis, Brantley Schumacher, Zoe Clem, and Holden Helman; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her dearly. Joann will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the beautiful life she and Calvin built together. From their years traveling across the country to the loving home they established in Starke, Joann's life was a testament to the importance of family and the lasting bonds of love. Although she will be deeply missed, her greatest legacy lives on through the children she lovingly welcomed into her heart and the generations of family who followed.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Archie Tanner Memorial Chapel in Starke, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice in Joann's memory, honoring the compassionate care and comfort provided to those in need.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday October 27, 2026, 2:00 PM at Henry Cemetery.
