Jimmie Ray Powel

Jimmie Ray Powel, 68, of Warrensburg died at 12:18pm Saturday April 29, 2006 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur Illinois.
He was born February 19, 1938 in Brownstown Illinois, the son of Hubert and Ruby Bolyard Powel. He married Sandra K Wattelet on October 20, 1957 in Stonington Illinois. Mr. Powel was an Army Veteran and retired from Caterpillar after 36 years. He was a member of Joy Assembly Church in Stonington Illinois where he served as a Deacon. He also had served as a coach for Little League and softball teams.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Powel of Warrensburg; Sons Rick Powel of Gurnee IL, and Greg Powel (fiancee Sharon Murray) of Moweaqua IL; daughters Pam (husband Todd) Thomason of Stonington, Tina (huband Truman) Sellers of Mt. Vernon, and Stacey (husband Corey) Crawford of Leroy IL. Grandchildren, Heather (husband George) Strissel of Aurora, Tierr Thomason of Stonington, Ryan, Krystal, Trulinda, McKenzie, and Baylie Sellers all of Mt. Vernon, and Calvin Crawford of Leroy; Great Grandchild Preston Strissel of Aurora. Brother Jack (wife Ann) Powel of Decatur; sister- Mary Ann (husband Floyd) Krueger; Many nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday May 4, 2006 at Joy Assembly Church in Stonington with Rev.Tim Moats officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 8PM on Wednesday May 3, in McClure Funeral Home Taylorville and from 10:00 to 11:00AM on Thursday at the church.
Memorials may be made to the American cancer Society or Joy Assembly Church.
