Jerry D. "Doug" Parnell Jr. 52, of Mt. Zion, IL passed away at 8:18 a.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in his residence. Private family services will be held at a later date. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with arrangements. Doug was born January 5, 1971, in Decatur, IL the son of Jerry D. and Geraldine L. (Beard) Parnell Sr. He obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He had worked for CWLP Utility Company in Springfield and most recently was working for Akorn Pharmaceutical Company in Decatur. Doug married Nancy Howerton. He enjoyed music, riding Harley Davidson's, attending AMA Motorcycle Races, cooking and day trip with his children. Surviving is his daughter: Madison K Parnell of Rochester, IL; son: Jerry D. "JD" Parnell III of Rochester, IL; parents: Jerry D. and Geraldine Parnell Sr. of Mt. Zion, IL; sisters: Tina M. Parnell-Miller (Dennis) of Decatur, IL and Deborah E. Smith (Todd) of Moweaqua, IL.
