Jeffrey C. Semmens Obituary (1959

Jeffery C. Semmens 64 of Pontiac, IL died Tuesday July 9, 2024 at 1:00pm surrounded by family at his residence. His funeral will be held on Monday July 15, 2024 at 6:00pm at the First United Methodist Church, Pontiac, IL with Revs. Tiffany Black and Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after services and a private family graveside will be held at South Side Cemetery, Pontiac. A visitation will be held Monday at the church from 4:00-6:00pm. Memorials in Jeff’s name may be made to Illinois Cancer Care Center or Oscar’s Kids. Jeff was born on October 25, 1959, in Chicago, IL a son of Robert and Carol (Herdien) Semmens. He married Billie Wickman on August 28, 2004, in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Pontiac; also surviving are two daughters: Makinzi (Austin Norman) Semmens and Payton Semmens both of Pontiac, IL; one granddaughter: Scarlette Norman; one brother: Don Semmens of Richmond, VA and two sisters: Ruth Schlosser of Pontiac, IL and Barbara Reeves of Sun Prairie, Wi. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents. Jeff was a graduate of Pontiac High School and owned and operated S & R Auto Center in Pontiac for many years. He was passionate about providing for his family and worked up until the end. Family was very important to Jeff, and he was always surrounded by love. Jeff was known for his love of dirt track racing. He raced for 32 years and traveled to many different racetracks. He was always known to show up in the same big red trailer. His biggest accomplishment was winning a heat race at Eldora. He introduced racing to his two daughters and loved getting to watch them participate in the sport that he loved so much. He met many great friends that he now considers family and was so thankful for everyone he met. Jeff was always there to lend a hand to whoever needed it and was a huge asset to the racing community.
