Jeanie Hinton

Jeanie Hinton, 87, of Tower Hill passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026 in Pana Health & Rehab. She was born November 22,1938 in rural Oconee, IL to the late Eugene & Dorothy (Moore) Ruot. Jeanie married Donnie Hinton on November 13, 1954 in the Herrick Christian Church. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2021.
Jeanie was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning & sewing. She was the matriarch of the family, who always kept everyone and everything running and in line. She loved her grandchildren, great grandchildren & grand dogs.
Jeanie is survived by her children: Diane (Dave) Shunick, Frankfort, IL & Tim (Colleen) Hinton, Tower Hill, IL; grandchildren: Amy (Greg) Newton, Katie Shunick, Jeff (Lauren) Shunick, Jay (Heather) Hinton & Jeremy (Raven) Hinton; great grandchildren: Shawn, Kylie, Emily, Addison, Amelia & Mavric; siblings: Harold Frances (Lois) Ruot, Joyce McKittrick, Sue (Bob) Chamberlain, Beverly (Butch) Smart and grand dogs: Chief & Archie. She was also preceded in death by her sisters: Lola in infancy & Naomi Corley and special son, Tony Smith.
Funeral services for Jeanie will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Steven Markham officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jeanie’s honor may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
