Janet Summers

Janet M. Summers, 86, passed away peacefully in her home on November 1, 2025 at 11:55 AM with Cookie her faithful companion by her side.
Her funeral will be at 10:00 AM on November 15, 2025 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. Burial will be at Long Point Cemetery, Wapella, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on November 14, 2025 at the memorial home.
Janet was born May 19, 1939 in Fairbury, IL, the daughter of Wade and Ethel (Piercy) Simmons. She married William “Bill” E. Summers on December 29, 1957, in Fairbury, IL.
Janet is survived by her daughters, Rebekah (Ron) Schneider and Phyllis Summers; four grandchildren, Julie (Alex) Cedeno, Jason (Melissa) Schneider, John (Allison) Schneider, and Hannah Summers; and six great grandchildren, Lucas and Felix Cedeno, Charlie and Nolan Schneider, and Franklin and Daphne Schneider. She is also survived by her brothers, Tom (Ginny) Simmons and Dan Simmons.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Janet was a member of Eastview Christian Church for more than 50 years. She was an active member of the church’s sewing ministry where she helped complete numerous projects for missions in Africa, Haiti, and Bloomington-Normal. The quilts she lovingly made for each of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be treasured.
