Jane R. Melton Obituary (1927

Jane R. Melton, 97, of Towanda, IL passed away at 5:10 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2024, at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, IL. A private family graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lexington, IL with Rev. Michael Pitzer officiating. Calvert-Johnson & Musselman is assisting the family with services. Jane was born June 30, 1927, in Lexington, IL, the daughter of Sylvan A. and Mary Katherine Dunn Breese. She married William E. Melton on September 9, 1947, in Bloomington, IL. He died May 20, 2006. Surviving are two children Katherine (Daniel) Bounds of Gridley, and William (Debby) Melton of Lexington; and one son-in-law Gary Mool of Lexington; she has seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Susan Mool, one great granddaughter Sarah Bounds, two brothers Robert & David Breese, and one sister Janet Breese. Jane was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lexington and had worked at State Farm. Jane and William were snowbirds and spent winters in Texas for several years and they also enjoyed hosting large family gatherings on the fourth of July. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved spending time with family and friends.
