James "Jim" Otloe Obituary (1956

James “Jim” Stephen Otloe, 69, of Longmont, CO passed away Monday, September 22, 2025, in Longmont United Hospital, Longmont, CO. He was born July 1, 1956, in Pana, IL to the late John F. & Margaret (Lesko) Otloe. Jim worked as a carpenter in construction, building homes and specializing in framing and had recently retired. He was a musician and played bass in a band. Jim was a talented athlete, breaking the Pana High School long jump record in 1974 at the State meet with a jump of 22 ft, 10 in and the record still stands. Jim is survived by his siblings: Carol Ann Wendt, Decatur, IL; Judy (Rich) Bechert, Eldridge, IA; John Otloe, Decatur, IL; Jerry Otloe, Pana, IL; 6 nephews; 4 nieces and companion, Marie Kaylor, Longmont, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece. Per Jim’s wishes cremation rites have been accorded and private family services will be held. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Pana. Memorials in Jim’s honor may be made to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
