James L. Bryant

James Lee Bryant, 80, of Piper City, formerly of Sullivan, passed away at 11:50 p.m. on January 4, 2017 in Piper City Rehab Center.There will be no service, and cremation rites have been accorded by Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.James was born Sept. 9, 1936 in Bloomington, a son of George and Kathryn Staser Bryant. He attended the University of Illinois where he ran track and graduated as an agronomist in 1961. He was a retired officer of Illinois National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved pigeon racing.He married Sandra Perkins September 8, 1961, and she preceded him in death. He later married Carol Hilligoss on February 7, 1982.Also surviving are children, Doug Bryant, Gregory Bryant, John Bryant and Rebecca Bryant, all of Texas and Nikol Martin of Illinois; sister, Norma Thompson of Bethany; step-sister, Karen Van Hook of Bloomington and step-brother, Phillip Westfall of Danvers and seven grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Billy Bryant.
