James Douglas Kirk

James Douglas Kirk age 83 of Downs IL passed away at 2:19 PM on Monday, November 5, 2018, Bloomington Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Bloomington IL. His funeral service will be 1:30 PM Saturday, November 10, 2018 by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. Pastor Ken Burgard will be officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, IL. Visitation will be 5:00 PM-7:00 PM Friday by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. The family suggests memorials be made to the Disabled Veterans Association or to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Jim was born September 8, 1935 in Crittenden County, Kentucky the son of Joseph and Millicent Novella Fowler Kirk. He married Elsie Irene Embry on April 18, 1957 in Gary, Indiana. She passed away April 29, 1997.

Surviving are his 6 children, Dallas G. (Ginger Beaupre) Kirk, Palm Bay, FL, Lora (Jerry) Downs IL, James E. (Mary Beth) Kirk, Bloomington IL, Willie Joe Kirk, Sayre, OK, Tina (Chad) Sherman, Whitewater, WI, Holly Kirk, Downs IL, 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, 3 brothers, Edward (Barb) Kirk, DeKalb, IL Elbert (Pat) Kirk, Marion, KY, Glenn (Mary) Kirk, Marion, KY, 2 sisters, Vilas (James) Todd, Marion, KY and Nancy Elledge, Kuttawa, KY.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Linda Kirk.
