James Humbles

James E. Humbles, 74, of Bloomington passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at his home. He was born on September 24, 1951 in Peoria, IL to Curtis and Betty (Starks) Humbles. On May 4, 1970 he married Chicquita Chavis she survives.

James is survived by his wife, his mother Betty, 3 children: Christopher Humbles, Jamie (Doug) Almasy and Shannon Humbles, 12 grandchildren: Tristan Humbles, Tyler Humbles, Zachary Fowler, Kaiden Brooks, Jamison Almasy, Lily Humbles, Mia Flores, Tyus Almasy, Lincoln Humbles, Ava Walker, Jett Almasy and Walker Almasy, 4 siblings: Michael, Robert, David Humbles, and Patience Humbles Jordan and many nieces and nephews. He we preceded in death by his father Curtis and sister Patty Pegues.

James was a graduate of Manual High School and received his bachelor’s degree in history from Illinois State University. He retired from Bridgestone as a supervisor. He was an avid fisherman and loved fishing on Evergreen Lake in Hudson; he enjoyed all sports but especially basketball.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026 at Noon with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service at Noon, burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
