James A. "Jim" Deere Obituary (1947

James A. "Jim" Deere, 75 of Pana passed away Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Heritage Health--Pana. He was born October 30, 1947 in Pana, IL to the late Bert W. & Lourene (Rust) Deere. Jim and Joni Davis were married on May 25, 1985 in Pana and she survives. Jim worked for Pana Economic Development and was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana; Pana Knights of Columbus & a lifetime member of the International Chili Society. Jim enjoyed food, trains, especially steam engines, bird watching, geology, gardening and storytelling. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Ron (Melody) Deere, Missouri; Melinda (Thad) Andrews, Wisconsin; Jennifer Deere, Missouri; Gayle (James) Hays, Pana, IL; Toni (Adam) Cross, Taylorville, IL; Donna Rayette (Ryan) Deere, Moweaqua, IL; 20 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren and brother, Richard (Barbara) Deere, Pana. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Garrett Dunaway & brother, Robert "Bob" Deere. A visitation for Jim will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Cremation rites will be accorded and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorials in Jim's honor may be made to the Pana Caboose Fund, c/o Pana Historical Society, 5 S. Oak St., Pana and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
