James D. Shives Jr. Obituary (1943

LEXINGTON- James D. Shives Jr., 81, of Lexington, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2024, at Carle Bromenn Medical Center in Normal. His graveside service will be held at 10:30 AM, on Friday, October 25, at Lexington Township Cemetery. Full Air Force Honors will be presented. Memorials may be made to Illinois Cancer Care, 3105 Magory Drive, Bloomington, IL 61704. Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements. James was born in Normal, Illinois on July 16, 1943, a son to James D. and Annie C. Kinslow Shives. Surviving is his son, Robin (Angela) Shives, Lexington; grandchildren, Scottie Shives, Springfield, Samantha Shives, Lexington, Hunter Bowles, Texas; great-granddaughter, Bristol Bowles; and a brother, Jack Shives, CO; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 2 sons, James David III, and Matthew. James worked at ISU. He served in the United State Air Force during Vietnam. He was a Boy Scout Leader, he loved golfing, and always had a good sense of humor. James also farmed and loved the harvest season.
