James B. Reinbolt Obituary (2024)

James Reinbolt, 98, of Bloomington, died on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. A private service will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home is assisting the family. Before his death, Jim requested there be no donations in his memory; he would rather you do something for yourself instead, or if this is too weird, the Diabetes Association of America. Survivors are his daughters, Kathleen (Keith) Ellison, Mary Jean Arbuckle (late Ralph), Judy (Patrick) O’Rourke; son-in-law, Dan Barbic; five grandchildren, Kevin (Tiffany) Barbic, Doug Barbic, Krysta (Monica) Barbic, Nick (Taylor) Hiltbrand and Greg (Jordan) Hiltbrand; three great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons. He was also very close to a niece, Lorraine Wake. His daughter, Florence Barbic and two sisters, Mary and Florence, preceded him in death. Jim was born on October 26, 1925 to Floyd and Consuelo (Blue) Reinbolt. He lived his early years in Belaire, OH. During WWII he served in the US Army and was stationed in Europe with the 87the Infantry Division, which participated in the Battle of the Bulge. In 1949, after graduating from Ohio University, he began a 40-year insurance career. He retired from State Farm Insurance Company in 1989. Prior to joining State Farm and moving to Bloomington/Normal in 1962, he worked in Columbus and Los Angeles. Jim enjoyed riding his bicycle, often to the library, where he loved reading several newspapers. He also liked math puzzles, word puzzles and steakburgers.
