Herbert William "Herb" Ingold Obituary (1951

Herbert William “Herb” Ingold, 72 of Chatsworth, IL died Wednesday January 17, 2024 at 11:10pm at the Veterans Home in Manteno, IL. His funeral will be held on Wednesday January 24, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Chatsworth, IL with Pastor Richard Likeness officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services at the church. Memorials in Herb’s name may be made to American Cancer Society, Chatsworth American Legion or Wounded Warrior Project. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Chatsworth is handling the arrangements. Herb was born on December 31, 1951 in Danville, IL a son of Frederick and Gladys (Sheffield) Ingold. He married Nancy D. Zorn on March 3, 1979 in Chatsworth, IL. She preceded him in death. Survivors include: one step-son: Corry Little; one sister: Margaret “Maggie” (Dwayne) Knollenberg of Lincoln, IL.; three brothers: Stephen Ingold of Goodland, IN, Richard Ingold of Gibson City, IL and John (Michelle) Ingold of Rankin, IL; Marla Behrends and Randy Zorn of Forrest, IL, Mark (Rita) Zorn of Chatsworth, IL and Sharon Zorn and (Rhinehardt) Hilzinger of Carmichael, CA. Herb was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy, one daughter Lindsay and one step-son: Craig Little. Herb was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Chatsworth and the Chatsworth American Legion. He graduated from Rankin Township High School in 1970 and immediately joined the US Air Force where he served our country during the Vietnam Was from 1970-1974. He worked for the Farmers Grain of Charlotte and continued on with Alliance Grain for almost 50 years.. Ingold’s love of his girls “Nancy and Lindsay” kept him going. He had a long battle of esophageal and lung cancer and was an amazing fighter. The family wants to thank the V.A. for all of the excellent care he had received. Herb was an avid fan of the NASCAR Circuit Driving and the Chicago Cubs. In his retirement the races and Cubs games filled his time.
