Herbert J. Castle, 79, & Nell Rose Castle, 77, of Pana, died Wednesday, June 14, 2017. Herb was born December 5, 1937 in Pardeeville, WI, to the late John J. & Katherine (Koch) Castle. Nell was born November 4, 1939 in Herrick to the late Wilbur Corwin & Grace Irene (Fry) Willson. Herb served in the U.S. Marine Corp, coming back to Pana after his time in the service. He worked as a concrete contractor, and had also worked for Oliver Tractor Company. She had worked as a clerk for Downs Motors, as well as for First National Bank of Pana & Purity Bakery. She loved bowling & playing cards. Both were members of the First United Methodist Church, Pana. Herb was a member of the United Methodist Men. He enjoyed golfing, building things, and painting. Herb was a Boy Scout of America leader, bowled on a league, and played cards. He had a very creative mind. Nell was a also a member United Methodist Women; Red Hat Society & Ombudsman. Herbert Castle & Nell Willson were married on March 23, 1958 in Pana. They are survived by children: Chuck (Janell) Castle, Toledo, IL; Kim Bilyeu, Arizona; Terry (Sonya) Castle, Decatur, IL; Kelly (Brad) Busby, Carbondale, KS; 12 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; Herbs sisters: Diana (Gary) Dooley, Vandalia, IL & Kathy (Wilfred) Beyers, Pana, IL; Nells brother: Roy L. Ike (Margaret) Willson, Pana, IL and sister: Mary E. Vemmer, Decatur, IL. They were preceded by Herbs brothers, John A. Sonny Castle & David Castle & sister, Jaunita Kerr and Nells brothers, Wilbur A. Arch Willson & James L. Willson and 2 siblings in infancy. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in the First United Methodist Church, Pana at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Amanda Richards officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield with graveside military rites by Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Detail. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
