Henny Schulz

Henny H. (nee Pohlmann) Schulz, age 95, passed away on August 2, 2025, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center.

Her memorial service will be at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomington on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 11am with Pastor Lyn officiating. A private inurnment will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Columbarium, Bloomington. Family will receive friends after the memorial service at church. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.

She was born December 29, 1929, in Kaltenkirchen, Germany to Theodore and Hertha Pohlmann. She married Gerhard “Gerry” Schulz on June 6, 1954, in Hicksville, NY.

Survivors include her daughters, Monika (Jim) Cavanagh, Bloomington, and Karin Schulz, Sandwich, Mass. and four grandchildren, Kiki Keeney, Nastya (Blake) Hackler, Nadia Cavanagh, and Luda (Dan Davis) Cavanagh, and three great-grandchildren, Theo, Keely, and Mila.

She is preceded in death by her husband Gerhard Schulz, her parents Theodore and Hertha Pohlmann, and a granddaughter Kerrin.

Henny grew up in Germany and moved to England after WWII to become a Nanny. After a few years there, she sought adventure and moved to the U.S. in 1953, where after only one week here, she started her new life as a Nanny in New York. Shortly thereafter, she began working as a bookkeeper for CBS in New York City. There, she had a window view where she could see St. Patrick's Cathedral and would occasionally see Cardinal Spellman entering or exiting the rear door. She then moved on to being a bookkeeper for a local school district on Long Island, NY. In her later years, she and Gerhard moved to Orlando, FL. where she worked as a realtor. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards with friends, her book club and going out to dinner with her friends.
